Williamsburg Bridge Biennial Inspection

Project Overview
American Structural Engineering (ASE) provided one complete inspection team (Team Leader and Assistant Team Leader) as part of a three-team effort for the biennial inspection of the Williamsburg Bridge under New York State Department of Transportation. ASE was responsible for conducting detailed inspections across various structural elements of the bridge, preparing reports, evaluating all active structural and safety flags, and inspecting critical and special emphasis members. The team also updated structural inventory and ensured compliance with NYSDOT inspection standards. The project scope included general bridge inspection, report preparation, inventory updates, and load rating verification. The Williamsburg Bridge connects Brooklyn and Manhattan and features a 1600 ft. main suspension span, with additional side spans and approach viaducts, totaling approximately 6668 ft. in length. The bridge supports eight lanes of vehicular traffic and two transit tracks, making it a vital transportation link.
